Thank you, Lance Armstrong (an ode to liberation theology)

Daily Theology

In the summer of 2004, Lance Armstrong was God.  The Tour de France raged from July 2 to July 25 that year, and I watched every minute.  I had just graduated from Air Force ROTC and Georgetown University, and I had about 8 weeks before I had to report at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.  Being generally an active person, and living at home with my parents, I ran and I biked.  And, if you followed cycling at all in 2004, Lance Armstrong was its name.  A cancer survivor who comes back to win, at that time, 5 of the most grueling races ever invented?  Lance was superman, he was the prototype of Americana, the epitome of what the human body and hard work could do.

Under The Shadow of the Tien Shan Mountains

Diary Of A Traveller

Travelling through the Tien Shan Mountains in the middle of winter with my skis and snowshoes is something really special to me. Im always in love with mountains, it gives a sense of calmness in my soul and standing on top of a mountain, I feel nearer to heaven. Nothing between me and the blue sky and the stars, the clouds are moving below me, in the same direction of the blowing wind. Each of the elements here up in the high mountains is different than being on lowlands. The strong wind, the air that contains less oxygen, the smell and the quietness made me feel more aware of the right here and right now. It made me feel less about the worldy things and more aware about the existence, both inner and the outer world. After all, Im surrounded by the mother nature.

Steven Zoernack revises estimate for price of Palladium

Steven Zoernack: Not only is Palladium on a historic and unsustainable discount to Platinum, it is supported by China’s growing ecenomy, and also the global move toward more stringent air quality standards. Palladium is priced in dollars and therefor further supported by the weaker dollar. Should these powerful trends continue, we would not be surprised to see Palladium rally back above the $850.00 per ounce level within the short to mid-term. With such a high and increasing demand for Platinum around the world, we don’t see Platinum correcting much to the downside as Palladium closes the gap.
